Character Survey - Get to know Lavi

Body and Appearance
1. Describe the character's height and build. Is he heavyset, thin, short, rangy?
Lavi is 5'10" and 150 lbs. He's tall (but not too tall), and is pretty thin.

2. How old is he?
19.

3. Describe his posture. Does he carry himself well or does he slouch?
Lavi carries himself very well, but he sometimes tends to slouch when he's leaning against something.

4. How is his health? Is he fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities?
He is pretty healthy, and his body can handle a good amount of trauma. He doesn't look very muscular, but he is strong and is in great shape. He's also pretty flexible. While he does wear an eye patch, he alludes to still having a working eye beneath it.

5. How does he move? Is he clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid?
As someone who is constantly fighting, he moves pretty quickly and with great balance.

6. How attractive is this character physically? How does he perceive himself in the mirror?
Lavi is a pretty good looking guy, and his confidence in himself means that he is probably happy about his looks.

7. Describe his complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred?
He has clear, light skin with no noticeable scars.

8. Describe his hair: color, texture, style.
He's a redhead with medium length hair which usually appears a bit spiky when he wears a headband. It looks pretty soft and straight when he wears it down.

9. What color are his eyes?
Green.

10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features?
He wears an eyepatch. 

11. What are his chief tension centers?
N/A

12. What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does he have six of the same suit?
He wears a uniform which consists of a long sleeved jacket, pants, boots, a scarf, and a headband. His current uniform color scheme is red and black. Without his uniform, he wears light brown pants with a black shirt.

13. Do his clothes fit well? Does he seem comfortable in them?
They look like they fit just fine, and I'm sure he's quite comfy.

14. Does he dress the same on the job as he does in his free time? If not, what are the differences?
When he's not on the job, he'll wear light brown pants with a black shirt.

15. You knew it was coming: Boxers, briefs or commando?
It's actually canon that he wears boxers.


Speech

1. What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse?
His voice is a bit hard to describe, honestly. It's almost nasally sounding.

2. How does he normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does he talk easily, or does he hesitate?
He speaks very easily, and how he speaks depends on the situation. If anything, his speech is normal.

3. Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics?
He'll sometimes say words such as "ya", "gonna", "somthin", "'cause" and "wanna."

4. What language/s does he speak, and with how much fluency?
Being a Bookman, he probably speaks several languages fluently. Looking at the anime/manga, he is fluent in English and Japanese.

5. Does he switch languages or dialects in certain situations?
He speaks more formally when he's alone with Bookman, his mentor.

6. Is he a good impromptu speaker, or does he have to think about his words?
He is a great impromptu speaker. He's very careful with that he says and any fumbling of words is most likely done on purpose.

7. Is he eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change?
Eloquent.

Mental and Emotional
1. How intelligent is this character? Is he book-smart or street-smart?
Although it doesn't look obvious by the way he acts, Lavi is incredibly intelligent. He's able to remember everything he learns, and he has a photographic memory. Growing up in various settings also allowed him to be street-smart as well.

2. Does he think on his feet, or does he need time to deliberate?
He can easily do both, but I think he prefers to have time.

3. Describe the character's thought process. Is he more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical?
Lavi tends to think logically, and he is practical. However, due to the influence of his friends, he's grown to be a bit idealistic and more intuitive than before he had met them.

4. What kind of education has the character had?
He's been home schooled by some of the world's most intelligent people.

5. What are his areas of expertise? What, if anything, is he interested in learning more about?
He's good at killing Akuma and not many people can do that. He's also like a historian of sorts.

6. Is he an introvert or an extrovert?
Both. He seems very sociable, but he has a lot of secrets and does not share his true self with many.

7. Describe the character's temperament. Is he even-tempered or does he have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven?
He's pretty cheerful and a bit of a joker. He does have another side to him where he's more cold though.

8. How does he respond to new people or situations? Is he suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic?
He's definitely enthusiastic towards new people, and it would depend on the situation.

9. Is he more likely to act, or to react?
Act.

10. Which is his default: fight or flight?
Fight.

11. Describe the character's sense of humor. Does he appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humor? Bathroom humor? Pranks?
He'd appreciate all of the above.

12. Does the character have any diagnosable mental disorders? If yes, how does he deal with them?
He essentially has a split personality. While he intended it to be on purpose, he's now pretty attached to his more carefree self. He also had begun questioning who he is.

13. What moments in this character's life have defined him as a person?
Two different moments when he thought his friend Allen and his friend Lenalee were dead. He's always considered himself to be a bit cold, and he never really wanted to grow attached to these people, but these moments clearly display that he cares very deeply for those he does become attached to.

14. What does he fear?
His friends being killed and being taken over by his former self, I think.

15. What are his hopes or aspirations?
He hopes for the war with Akuma to end???

16. What is something he doesn't want anyone to find out about him?
That he use to pretend to trust people in order to gain information. He's a secretive boy.


Relationships
1. Describe this character's relationship with his parents.
He has no parents.

2. Does the character have any siblings? What is/was their relationship like?
Only child.

3. Are there other blood relatives to whom he is close? Are there ones he can't stand?
He calls Bookman "Gramps", but it's unclear on whether or not they're actually related.

4. Are there other, unrelated people whom he considers part of his family? What are his relationships with them?
If he isn't related to Bookman, then he at least considers him to be family. He views the people at The Black Order to be his family as well.

5. Who is/was the character's best friend? How did they meet?
I'd say his best friend is Allen Walker. They met at The Black Order. You know, killing Akuma together.

6. Does he have other close friends?
A very small group.

7. Does he make friends easily, or does he have trouble getting along with people?
He does make friends easily, but it is difficult to tell when Lavi is actually making friends or if he is putting up a facade.

8. Which does he consider more important: family or friends?
He doesn't have family, so definitely his friends.

9. Is the character single, married, divorced, widowed? Has he been married more than once?
Single.

10. Is he currently in a romantic relationship with someone other than a spouse?
Nope.

11. Who was his first crush? Who is his latest?
I have no idea.

12. What does he look for in a romantic partner?
He likes older women, but it is hard to discern what he would look for in a committed relationship.

13. Does the character have children? Grandchildren? If yes, how does he relate to them? If no, does he want any?
Nope.

14. Does he have any rivals or enemies?
Noah, Akuma, and the Earl. He hates them all.

15. What is the character's sexual orientation? Where does he fall on the Kinsey scale?
This is honestly a tough question. He shows great interest towards women, but there's a chance he could be asexual since it's difficult to know whether or not he's putting on a act or is genuinely interested. 

16. How does he feel about sex? How important is it to him?
He claims that he's into it.

17. What are his turn-ons? Turn-offs? Weird bedroom habits?
He likes older women, and his turn-offs and bedroom habits are unknown. 


Beliefs
1. Do you know your character's astrological (zodiac of choice) sign? How well does he fit type?
He's a Leo, and he fits some of the traits.

2. Is this character religious, spiritual, both, or neither? How important are these elements in his life?
He never comments on his religion or spirituality.

3. Does this character have a personal code of morals or ethics? If so, how did that begin? What would it take to compromise it?
He's not supposed to grow attached to people, and this is something he's had to do his entire life. He hasn't been keeping to it recently though.

4. How does he regard beliefs that differ from his? Is he tolerant, intolerant, curious, indifferent?
Lavi is very easy-going, so he probably wouldn't care too much about those who think differently than him. He'd be curious in the beliefs that interest him and angry about beliefs that can cause harm to others.

5. What prejudices does he hold? Are they irrational or does he have a good reason for them?
He loathes Akuma and the Noah because they kill people. His hatred is not irrational.


Daily Life
1. What is the character's financial situation? Is he rich, poor, comfortable, in debt?
He doesn't mention it, so he's probably comfortable, or he doesn't care.

2. What is his social status? Has this changed over time, and if so, how has the change affected him?
He's an exorcist and a Bookman. That's pretty important. Becoming an exorcist has made him a better person, probably.

3. Where does he live? House, apartment, trailer? Is his home his castle or just a place to crash? What condition is it in? Does he share it with others?
He shares a home with other members of The Black Order. It sort of does look like a castle.

4. Besides the basic necessities, what does he spend his money on?
Not sure.

5. What does he do for a living? Is he good at it? Does he enjoy it, or would he rather be doing something else?
Exorcist and Bookman. He's great at both things, but both jobs seem to be a burden for him. Being an exorcist means watching your comrades and civilians die, while being a Bookman means being emotionally detached.

6. What are his interests or hobbies? How does he spend his free time?
He likes to spar, sleep, and read. It isn't often that he has free time, to be honest.

7. What are his eating habits? Does he skip meals, eat out, drink alcohol, avoid certain foods?

He eats when he's hungry, and loves Yakiniku.
